Gladiators

Without any trace of doubt this season’s must have shoes are the Oh-So-Boho gladiator sandals. Several versions of the lace-ups were spotted on the catwalks in most designers’ collections (Chloe’s wedges, Valentino’s zip-up flat sandals and Alexander McQueen’s edgy heels, just to name a few). The high street has been quick to follow up, with Zara, Kurt Geiger and Mango all offering affordable versions of this summer’s It Roman-inspired shoes.

Flatforms

If you can’t face high heels- rejoice! One of this summer’s biggest trends is the Flatform. Any shoe with a big flat sole is considered a Flatform, including sandals, trainers, Oxfords and espadrillas. The Flatform can be dressed both up and down depending on the style. Sophisticated metallic hues, as seen at Fendi and Just Cavalli, make for an easy chic vibe, whereas simpler cuts in black, white and beige are perfect for giving everyday outfits an edge, as seen at DKNY and Michael Kors.

What to wear with your new flatforms? A pretty Mara Hoffman dress of course!

Platforms

This season is all about recreating that Seventies look, so glorious (and towering!) disco platforms are here to stay. YSL, Gucci and Tom Ford show us how it’s done with animal print, metallics and embellishments. Miss Selfridge and Office offer a more budgetable variety of basic (but still edgy) styles and colours.

Stay on point with an ultra cool and flattering jumpsuit.

Sports Luxe

Embellished trainers continue being all the rage, as designers take last season’s trend to a new level.  This summer’s trainers come in different colours and patterns (Burberry, DSquared2) and are meant to be paired with non-sporty clothes, to tone down an elegant outfit or a dramatic skirt.  Sports-inspired heels were also spotted at Alexander Wang and Cosmoparis.

Wear your sports luxe shoes with a cool cut-out dress like this Mara Hoffman number.

Mules

If you’ve never owned a pair of mules-now is the time to rock them! Chic mules from the Nineties are back this summer, with a modern twist. The Spring/Summer collections were packed with them (evening sandals at Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik), and the high street was quick to jump on board as well with both daytime cool and smart evening versions (River Island, Topshop).
