Transeasonal Style Guide: Part 1

Posted by on

We've asked Stylist, Aysha Mattar, to guide us through trans-seasonal looks using some of her favourite pieces from Maison du Maillot.

Look 1: Leather Forever

I’ve styled this 9Seed Marrakesh sand coloured top with a lighter wash of denim for those in-between seasons days. I’ve layered a vintage navy blue leather vest from my mom with a pair of navy velvet sandals by Charlotte Olympia. The minute you add a similar colour to an accessory, you find your entire outfit elevates. Here, the textures from the various fabrics (the leather and velvet) make this a look that easily transitions you from day to night.

I would wear this look out for sunset drinks and it easily transitions to dinner as well.

Look 2: Sandy Spring

This is my Spring variation of the above outfit. It still has a touch of velvet, from the sandals, as a throwback to the colder days and I’ve layered my usual chains which are a combination of vintage and new pieces. I absolutely love this shade, it’s a beacon for sunnier days to come.

Look 3: Marigold Muse

Everything about this deep marigold dress from Lanhtropy will help brighten your day on the dreariest of mornings. What helps the dress transition into cooler weather is the cooler pieces that are used for accenting.

I’ve worn it with my Paris Texas cowboy boots and vintage leather vest. I will be adding a thicker jacket, like a wool check print blazer, on top on cooler days.

My fanny pack is what is bridging the two colours together, being a cooler shade of a warmer colour.

Look 4: City Stripes

Layered underneath this Mara Hoffman Coletta dress is a lightweight black polo neck and stockings to help make this dress cold weather friendly.

A Pattern clash during darker days is an immediate pick me up. The lightweight cotton from the wrap dress, with added layers to warm me up gives, what was traditionally a summer dress, longevity.

By wearing these cowboy boots, what was once perceived as a solely summer dress has become more winter friendly.

Look 5: Casual Cool

I teamed this Mes Demoiselles jumpsuit with an ecru shirt by Alice and Olivia to make it more winter accessible. This piece could be worn with a polo neck as the cold sets in or on its own, once the warmer months returns.

The burgundy fanny pack, by Jerome Dreyfuss, helps winterise the entire look for those gloomy rainy days.
