Zanzibar, Tanzania We have been hearing about the magic of Zanzibar over the past few months, and it seems that this island in the Indian Ocean is sure to be a popular travel destination for those in the know this year. With white sandy beaches, turquoise waters and a cultural melting pot to soak up, Zanzibar has it all. Home to the late legend Freddy Mercury, you can pay homage while in Stone Town, wander around the chaotic Darajani Market or brush up on some history at the Old Fort. What to pack: A long dress like the Gypsy 05 Tribal X-Back Maxi to stay cool and yet culturally sensitive.
Angra dos Reis, Brazil We love islands at MdM, and when we heard about the beautiful Angra dos Reis off the coast of Rio di Janeiro we had to investigate. Made up of 365 islands, there are plenty of deserted beaches, waterfalls and nature trails to explore. Hire a boat, eat fresh fish and go for a swim. Riri was just snapped in Angra dos Reis, so we reckon the girl is surely in the know! What to pack: Go matching in the Hanne Bloch Amalfi kaftan, swimsuit and headband, which will be sure to turn heads.
Tulum, Mexico Arriba Arriba! Tulum is on the Yucatan Peninsula and overlooks the beautiful Caribbean Sea. Here you can take a dip in the magical cenotes (limestone sinkholes) and visit the ancient Mayan ruins, which overlook the turquoise waters that lap onto the beautiful shores. Make sure to feast on Mexican food, drink plenty of cervezas and stock up on the traditional brightly coloured blankets to take back home. What to pack: How about the JADEtribe Nicole bag, which comes in many colours, to pack your beach towels and SPF in.
Palawan, Philippines The Philippines have some of the best beaches in the world; with their natural splendour and secret charm it sure is a part of the world to visit before the masses start rocking up. Made up of over 1780 islands, Palawan’s two main areas to visit are Port Princessa and El Nido. Explore the astounding crystal clear waters, lush forests and limestone terrain and prepare to be amazed. What to pack: California designers sure do know how to design a bikini, and the Cali Dreaming Lily Bee Print Mesh two piece will be the item of choice for your Philippines vaycay.
Kerala, India A hop, skip and jump away from us is Kerala. The green, temperate state is perfect for a houseboat holiday down the meandering waterways, visits to the spice and tea plantations or languishing on the sandy beaches. For a serious hit of history visit the ancient fort of Cochin and for souvenirs make sure to bring back plenty of spices – even a beautifully tailored sari wouldn’t go amiss! What to pack: For when you want a dip in the sea try the Melissa Odabash Sao Paolo bikini (available in 2 colours)
Socotra, Yemen If you go on one adventure this year make it to the Yemenese island of Socotra. In this far-flung exotic wilderness you will see flora and fauna totally unique to the island. Wander amongst the famous Dragon’s Blood trees, scope out the caves, and scuba and swim on the beautiful beaches. This is one place not on the typical tourist trail, so make sure to keep it a secret - shhhh! What to pack: Take the L*Space Felicity swimsuit for chilled out swimming in between nature hikes.
Sir Bani Yas, Abu Dhabi This miniscule island is off the coast of Abu Dhabi and perfect for long weekend getaways. The island is a wildlife reserve, and here you can go back to nature amongst the trees, plants and animals. To stay active on and off the island go hiking, biking, snorkelling and kayaking. The only place to stay on Sir Bani Yas is the Abu Dhabi Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara, where you can pamper yourself in the spa, spend the day horse riding or simply lounging by the pool. What to pack: Keep it bright and chic in the Caffe Swimwear Scarlet Kaftan. Want to see our Secret Travel Spots Pinterest board? Check it out here.
